5K NORDIC FREESTYLE DART BIATHLON
Saturday, March 16th at Mt. Shasta Nordic Ski Center. Skate, ski, or snowshoe. Lunch and awards! How it works: Interval start, racers stop twice to throw three darts. Every point thrown deducts one second off racer’s time. Miss dart board and do a short penalty loop. Awards for top placers.
- Register at Nordic Center entrance at 9:45am on race day. Race starts at 10:15am. Lunch and awards at 11:30am.
- Donation is $10 for over age 14 and $5 for under 15.
- Participants must be able to do a Nordic activity and throw a steel-tipped dart 7.6 feet.

Snowshoe Winter Ecology Tour
Bring a brown-bag lunch and spend the day exploring ways to stay active in the winter. We have restrooms and a warm place with a woodstove for you to have lunch or take a rest between activities.
Reservations are required for the Winter Ecology Tour with Rebeca Franco and the Beginner Ski Lessons with Chantal Langenfeld.
There will be both a snowshoe tour and ski lesson in the morning (10:30 – noon) and in the afternoon (1:30 – 3:00).

- Prerequisite: Must be an advanced classic or skate skier
- This class will cover both classic and skating instruction.
- Personal skill improvement and teaching strategies will be covered.

National Snowshoe Champion Qualifying Race at the Mt. Shasta Nordic Center
Sunday, February 3rd, 2013 ~ Race Starts at 9:00am
EVENT DETAILS:
5 K – Race or Walk – gradual hill, winding up through the forest, great vistas, 1.5K loop at the top then back down. The course is a mix of wide groomed Nordic trail and off-piste.
10 K – Race* – two loops of the 5 K course
Almost 1K – kids race (plus a little pup loop)
REGISTRATION AND FEES:
Online registration available through 2/1/2013 at prerace.com/races/event/29002/Mt–Shasta-Snowshoe-Race-Mt. Shasta-CA. Athletes can register at the Nordic Center starting at 8:00am. This race is limited to 75 participants. $15 for Adults & $5 for Kids
USSSA QUALIFYING EVENT:
This is an official qualifier for the U. S. Snowshoe Association National Championship Race. Any race participant wishing to qualify to compete in the National Snowshoe Championship Events must become a USSSA member prior to competing. You may register for membership on race day.

Snowshoes available to rent from the Mt. Shasta Nordic Center.
