Keep your fingers crossed - The Nordic Center could open next week!

Snow is falling on the Nordic Center throughout the weekend!

Our grooming crew was up at the Nordic Center Tuesday afternoon in preparation for bringing the groomers up. The new Pisten Bully will get its tracks in the snow for the first time and Ms. Kitty will be on hand for specific grooming tasks. Dang, are they pumped to take the new Bully for a spin!

It's exciting to see snow falling and we're heartened by the forecast. Keep your fingers crossed for more snow this week. If the Nordic Center gets 16-20 inches of snow in this storm cycle, the grooming team hopes to have some trails opened by the middle of next week. We'll stay in touch to let you know when we've got an opening date.

In the meantime, keep doing your snow dance!

Our New Groomer Is Here!

Dang! That’s one pretty Bully! Wow!

Our grooming crew is excited and hoping for snow so they can drive this machine. The new Pisten Bully 100 groomer came earlier this month - with some assembly required. Sean and Dan put on the tracks, blade and tiller and now she’s ready to roll!

With more power and improved fuel efficiency, the Bully will deliver a better grooming experience while also cutting down diesel consumption and the number of hours to get the trails in great condition.

Pray for snow everyone!

Big news!! The Nordic Center has a new double vault toilet!!

We've got a new crapper and we couldn't be happier! This is the first project element we're implementing under the California State Parks Regional Parks Program grant. Lot's more coming, particularly next summer when the new lodge comes in. For now, we're super satisfied with this accomplishment.

Huge thanks for the support from U.S. Forest Service - Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

'22-'23 SEASON WRAP UP & PHOTOS

Wow! What a winter we had this year. The consistent snowfall (with multiple storms that gave us 2+ feet overnight) and blizzard conditions gave us so many memories to look back on. The teamwork of the Nordic Center staff, with a special shoutout to the grooming team, as well as the positivity of our regulars and visitors alike secured the Winter of ‘22-’23 as one for the books!

Here’s a roundup of some of our favorite photos from this season. You can’t beat the stunning scenery of our dense forest covered in snow–plus a few fun shots of Nordic staff hard at work (but having fun through it all!).

We’ll see you next season!

Nancy Driscoll Foundation Donates $5,000

Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance is pleased to share that we have received a $5,000 donation from the Nancy Driscoll Foundation towards the Mt. Shasta Nordic Center's New Groomer Fund.

We are so thankful to the Nancy Driscoll Foundation for being gracious supporters of Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance's many programs over the years and can't wait to put this donation to good use.

In case you missed it, SORA is fundraising for a new snowcat groomer to ensure meticulous, consistent grooming at the Nordic Center for years to come. Consistent grooming is a crucial aspect to operating the Nordic Center for daily trail use by our community members, as well as for our important School Program.

Thank you again to the Nancy Driscoll Foundation!
